Sarah Palin recently spoke out on an issue that is growing ever so quickly across America; health care. This is an issue that will affect millions of Americans and will potentially change the way the government program is forever run. The question on many people’s minds is whether or not Ms. Palin had a point with her “death squad” speech?
There is no denying the fact that social sites like Facebook have taken over the internet in the last few years. So much that someone to the magnitude of Sarah Palin decided to talk about her issues with the proposed health care plan of Obama’s on Facebook. She knew that this site would allow her to have her voice heard by millions of Americans.
Palin was quick to note that the health care plan could make decisions regarding anyone at the end of their life, which might include her baby. She believes her parents and baby will have to leave it in the hands of Obama’s “death panel” to determine whether they are worthy of receiving health care. This is certainly not something anyone would want to face or see their loved ones experience.
Although some may view her comments as inappropriate, she certainly had a point with her remarks and voiced her opinion like ever American deserves to do. There are people all over the United States who fear the worst for what the new health care plan would do and Palin was doing nothing more than speaking out for those people.
Spokesman of the year Meg Stapleton spoke on this issue to further clarify various points. She quickly pointed out page 425 of the House Democrat’s bill to back up her argument. Within this section it refers to “a list of national and state-specific resources to assist consumers and their families with advance care planning consultation for seniors, including voluntary discussions of living wills, power of attorney, or the decision to reject extraordinary measures of life support.”
Without a doubt this is a topic that deserves the attention it is getting and deserves to have people voice their opinions. Whether it is Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, or someone in a little town in Nebraska, people need to be speaking out in order to get the decision they hoped for. For this reason, it was actually an admirable thing that Ms. Palin did.
If you want to question the new health care plan and even voice negative opinions about it, go ahead and do so. There is no reason why anyone should have to hide their emotions and stay quite with something that can and will affect them.
While some may be against Sarah Palin’s comments, many she did the right thing by getting people to hear the truth about the new health care plan. The only thing that is for sure is that Sarah Palin said what she felt needed to be said.
