Now that the campaign is quickly coming to a close, and the candidates are bringing in their final big guns as we approach the November election day – just what is our classy Republican VP hopeful out and about doing?  The answer will probably shock you – at least a bit…

Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live tonight!  That’s right, folks.  The gal SNL mocked for weeks on end is going to feature our lovely lady live on the air tonight, October 18 on SNL TV.

Word on the street has it that Sarah Palin is not coming with a script, and the SNL team has given her very little (if any) information about her role in the program tonight.  The effect of this publicity event should be very positive indeed for Governor Palin as she is able to come out before the American people on national television and… well…. laugh at herself and the entire 2008 Presidential Election!

Studies have made it very clear that candidates can do a lot for their public image when they participate in the popular media events that most people would not expect to see.  John McCain’s appearance on the David Letterman show is a perfect example.  (Maybe Barack Obama’s appearance on the O’Reilly factor was a bit much.)

The latest Sarah Palin info may shock you indeed, but how well the show does tonight could go a long way for the McCain ticket.  Judging by the results Sarah Palin has seen so far, the SNL program could be a real hit!  It is not certain yet how SNL will approach the show, but you should look for a Sarah Palin – Tina Fey combo at some point.

Personally, I am predicting that Sarah Palin will do a great job making fun of herself.  Just as John McCain so humbly said “I screwed up” on Letterman, I am willing to bet that we’ll see similar plays with Sarah Palin tonight on SNL.
