Of late one of the main topics President Obama has had to deal with is the health care plan. Many have opposed what he has had to say while others have been perfectly fine with the direction he intended. I guess that is politics for you. Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has not had much to say since resigning, but that all changed with the Obama “death panel.” or “death squad”
Americans are becoming more and more familiar with the nationalized health care plan that President Obama and his administration has been attempting to get through Congress. The proposed plan has caused an outrage amongst many Americans; for obvious reasons according to Sarah Palin.
Palin stated the Democrats are promising the government health care system will actually reduce the cost of health care. On the contrary, economist Thomas Sowell stated the government health care will just refuse to pay the cost, not reduce the cost. As a result, your grandparents, sick mother, or disabled brother are going to be the ones suffering from this.
Sarah Palin came out and said she does not want to watch her down syndrome baby die because of the new health care system that would look past the disabled child. She went on to call Obama’s new plan a “death panel” that her child would have to stand in front of to determine how productive the child is in society.
Essentially, she believes the new health care plan will judge people based off of their value to society. If they are disabled, elderly, or sick, they may not even be worthy of health care. Is this really fair to society?
There are those in society that are completely against what Sarah Palin had to say and believe she was out of line. However, this is precisely how hundreds of thousands of other Americans are feeling right now whether they are disabled or sick themselves or if they have loved ones that would not meet the criteria.
Palin went on to say that health care is all about life and death decisions. In order to determine what health care should stand for, you need to consider human rights and human dignity. It is simply not fair to take away health care based off of how someone is physically.
Rep. Michele Bachmann actually commended Palin for having the guts to step up and voice her opinion on such a serious matter. Bachmann believes Palin has stepped up and said what all children, seniors, and society in general have wanted to say.
The health care debate is something that is rising in importance and quickly gaining attention all across America. Little by little more people are becoming familiar with what is going on inside the White House. This is a decision that could forever change health care. According to Ronald Reagan,” Government programs, once launched, never disappear.
For now, it is not too late to voice opinions on the subject. Some view Palin as out of line with her remarks, but she was really doing nothing more than making her voice heard before it really is too late.
