Sarah Palin and Barack Obama may be on opposing sides, but one thing that have in common is that each has made history in the 2008 presidential race. Sarah Palin is the first woman to ever be nominated for the role of vice presidential candidate by the Republican Party. Barack Obama is the first African American to ever be nominated for the role of presidential candidate by the Democratic Party. Both sides of the coin have surpassed one historic moment and are one the edge of another.
No matter which side wins, Sarah Palin and Barack Obama both stand at the threshold of another historic moment in America’s history. One or the other will be sworn in as either the first woman vice president or the first African American president. Many people feel that both moments are long overdue. While Sarah Palin and Barack Obama face off for the American people in this historic race, one thing they have in common is family. Each candidate is dedicated to his/her family – and has proven that family is one of the most important issues. When the media began to have a field day with the fact that Sarah Palin’s 17-year-old daughter was pregnant out of wedlock, Obama’s reaction was that a person’s children, no matter which side that person is on, are off-limits.
Another thing that Sarah Palin and Barack Obama have in common is the fact that both sides question the experience of the candidate for the opposite side. The Republicans question Barack Obama’s experience in the role of a leader rather than a committee member while the Democrats question Palin’s experience in such a highly ranking role in America. Both candidates have experience in politics, although Palin’s has been at the state level rather than the federal level. However, Sarah Palin’s experience does include roles in a leadership position – first as mayor of her hometown, then as governor of the state.
So, no matter which party you are backing, be sure to go out to the polls on Election Day and be a part of the historic event that will occur because of Sarah Palin and Barack Obama. Voting is a constitutional right, but more than that, it is a privilege and a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. As an American citizen, it is your responsibility to take advantage of the freedom that so many people have given their lives for you to have.

2 Should Barack Have Picked Clinton? - Sarah Palin Blogs // Oct 16, 2008 at 12:13 pm
[...] Barack Obama chose Joe Biden as his running mate for the 2008 Presidential Election, but it’s not entirely clear if that choice was a wise one or not. In comparison to our gal Sarah Palin, of course, Joe Biden is not the most exciting running mate nor has he garnered anywhere close to the amount of attention as Sarah Palin. So, the question remains – should Obama have picked Hilary Clinton as his running mate instead of Joe Biden? [...]
