The Sarah Palin debate with Joe Biden is scheduled for October 2, 2008. The Vice Presidential debate moderator will be Gwen Ifil of PBS who is charged with managing the two VP candidates during what will likely be a lively exchange. Sarah Palin, of course, is expected to do very well against Joe Biden who has already made several comments about the nature of debating his female counterpart.
Some changes were made to the debate structure just recently to satisfy the concerns of both candidates. Unlike previous VP debates – like those between Cheney and Lieberman in 2000 or Cheney and Edwards in 2004 – Sarah Palin and Joe Biden will debate from lecterns instead of being seated at tables. The total time allotted for each candidate’s question and response will also be shorter than in previous debates, as requested by both Republican and Democratic camps.
Many issues should come up in the Vice Presidential debate between Palin and Biden including foreign policy matters, the economy, VP roles, and other hot button election issues. Although VPs debates do not attract quite as much attention as the presidential debates, it is still a very important matter considering that a sudden problem with McCain or Obama could place either Sarah Palin or Joe Biden in the White House as we saw with John F Kennedy and Richard Nixon.
The major issue catching attention with the upcoming Palin Biden debate, of course, is much more centered around exactly how Joe Biden will approach his female contender. If he is too aggressive and pushing with the issues, it could spell trouble for his image. Still, Sarah Palin may prove a strong match for Joe Biden in this debate with her charming and compassionate demeanor. As we all witnessed in her acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, Sarah definitely has a way with words indeed!

My prediction is that Joe Biden will try to make Sarah look like a fool by challenging her on foreign policy and economic policy. I am not sure how well versed she is in these areas, but I am sure that she will have quick responses and snappy comebacks. Sarah is the kind of gal you would invite to your neighborhood 4th of July barbecue. I hope she holds her ground and proves to the American people that she is ready for the job. She already has my vote!
